1st call for proposals – Interreg Next Med Programme

Detailed Call Description

Recognizing the unique added value of working together beyond borders for the development of the Mediterranean area, each project has to be submitted by a partnership representing a minimum of 3 organizations from 3 different eligible countries, including at least one Mediterranean Partner Country.

The call is open to all Programme Priorities and Specific Objectives (S.O.), as follows:

Priority 1: A more competitive and smarter Mediterranean S.O. 1.1: Research and innovation capacities, uptake of advanced technologies S.O. 1.2: Sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs and job creation in SMEs

Priority 2: A greener, low-carbon and resilient Mediterranean S.O. 2.1: Energy efficiency and reducing green gas house emissions S.O. 2.2: Climate change adaptation and risk disaster prevention, resilience taking into account eco-system based approaches S.O. 2.3: Access to water and sustainable water management S.O. 2.4: Transition to a circular and resource efficient economy

Priority 3: A more social and inclusive Mediterranean S.O. 3.1: Equal access to inclusive and quality services in education, training and lifelong learning S.O. 3.2: Equal access to health care and resilience of health systems, including primary care, and transition from institutional to family-and community-based care

Priority 4: A better governance of the Mediterranean S.O. 4.1: Other governance actions: Fostering local governance models and processes through cross-sectoral, multilevel and cross-border partnerships

The financial allocation per priority will be as follows:

Priority 1: €29.99m. Priority 2: €43.64m. Priority 3: €21.99m. Priority 4: €7.99m.

The types of projects foreseen and the financial allocation per project is indicated below:

Youth oriented: €19.1m. Thematic projects: €76.5m. Governance projects: €7.9m.

Depending on the type of projects foreseen for this call – thematic, youth-oriented and governance – the EU financial support will range from €500,000 to €2.5 million. The EU contribution cannot exceed 89% of the project total eligible costs and the project co-financing must be at least 11% of the total eligible costs.

Specific requirements:

  • The same organisation can apply only once as Applicant under each Specific Objective (in case an organisation participates in more than one project as Applicant under the same Specific Objective, all concerned projects submitted under that Specific Objective will be rejected!).
  • No limitation applies for the participation at partner level.
  • The same organisation cannot be awarded more than 2 grants as Lead Partner under this call for proposals.
  • At least 50% of the project total eligible costs shall be dedicated to activities to be implemented in the Mediterranean Partner Countries territories.
